Class Levels

What class is best for you and your child at AQUASTARS Swim School?

We have four main levels of classes at AQUASTARS Swim School. Within each level we also have various groups. The best thing about all our levels – is that no floatation aids, like “back bubbles” and “arm floats” are used to teach your child to swim. Experience tells us that if young children fall into a body of water, they usually do so unexpectedly and with their clothes and shoes on. Children need to be taught how to save themselves first and foremost, before they are taught how to perform an “over-arm” stroke.

Parent and Child Lessons are classes that have a parent or caregiver in the water with the student. Children in this level are typically aged bewteen six (6) months and 2.5 years to 3.5 years of age. Click here for more information about Parent and Child Lessons.

Private Lessons are available for all ages and abilities. Click here for further information to find out if private lessons are best for you and/or your child.

Pre-School Aged Lessons are classes that have a teacher in the pool with a maximum of four (4) children per teacher. Parent and Caregivers are usually out of the water, but if it helps settle your child, you are welcome to initially be in the pool during this first level of our Pre-School Aged classes. Children in this level are typically aged between 3.5 years to 5 years of age. Click here for more information about Pre-School Aged Lessons.

School Aged Lessons are classes that have a teacher in the pool and students are learning and developing the basics of Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke. These classes are like that of other aquatic centres “mini-squads” but we prefer to keep the class in lesson format teaching a maximum of 6 per class per lane. This allows for effective learning to take place. Students are typically aged 5/6 years to 9+ years of age. Click here for more information about School Aged Lessons.

Junior Squad Training is available every afternoon of the week. All four strokes are developed and refined during a one (1) hour training session. Your child will be coached by a qualified instructor who is either a national level swimming, our manager, who is an Olympian or our Owner/Director who is a Coach with two decades of coaching experience. We recommend at least two sessions per week for best results at this level. Students are typically aged 5 years to 12 years of age. Click here for more information about Junior Squad Training.
